Stephanie Sinclair: 2012 Contemporary Issues, first prize stories

About the Event:

Stephanie Sinclair is a four-time World Press Photo winner and recipient of the International Women's Media Foundation's 2017 Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award. Stephanie is also the founding executive director of Too Young to Wed (TYTW), a nonprofit organization dedicated to protecting girls’ rights and ending child marriage though the use of powerful visual storytelling.

Stephanie will present her 15-year project on the harmful repercussions of child marriage around the world. This includes the exceptional photographs by attendees of TYTW's 2017 Tehani Photo Workshop and her work in bringing young women captured by Boko Haram to meet with congressional leaders in Washington DC.

Too Young to Wed:

Our mission is to protect girls’ rights and end child marriage.

By providing visual evidence of the human rights challenges faced by women and girls around the world, Too Young to Wed aims to amplify their courageous voices and build a global community dedicated to ending child, early and forced marriage and supporting positive change for these girls. To that end, Too Young to Wed partners with local nonprofits and supports income-generating projects, literacy classes and girl engagement groups where the girls in our stories live.

Note: There is a fee associated with the event, this covers the cost of the lunch provided.
